Rebranding is often a difficult stage in a company’s life cycle when they realize a change in their image is necessary for future successes.

Intel, one of the world’s largest chip makers has recently decided to undergo rebranding after a 37 year run with its well-known “Intel inside” logo/ slogan. They are trying to shift their image of being a PC chip producer to emphasizing the whole company, “leaping Ahead in Consumer Products.”

The Change wont be easy, especially after the enormous success they have had in the past with the the “Intel Inside” tageline. However Intel felt that it was necessary for them to establish themselves in the consumer products market, which they are already penetrating into. The real growth in the next five years are in cell phones and mobile devices so I believe Intel is extremely wise in differentiating themselves from AMD (their major competitor in the chip manufacturing industry) early and focusing on platforms rather then individual chips .

To ease the process of rebranding Intel have said that a marketing program will be produce to retain the the tagline of “Intel inside” to help PC manufactures advertise products that use its chips.”

Expect Chief Executive Paul Otellini and the Intel family to unveil the new campaign during Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week…

Sure you go to college so that you can get the job of your dreams, but in most case that doesn’t always work.

Many Franchises are on the rise so look out Starbucks and McDonalds… Here they come!

Subways a fast-food sub sandwich and salad has been ranked the #1 franchise to invest in. With a healthier Minded population and a country that runs on speed subways may just be the perfect solution to those quick business lunches. At the end of 2005 their Franchise came to a grand total of 20,740 with 1,467 opening in the year 2005 alone.

Pizza Hot and sandwich competitor, Quiznos are second and third in ranking respectively. Both with an average of 1000 stores opened in the year ending 2005.

So if you looking for a smart way to earn money, franchising is the way to go. You don’t need to build the brand; it’s already established so there’s not much you need to do. The only negative is that that you will be required to pay a franchising fee and in some cases royalty fees. There’s also the consideration of control in your operation. You will be limited at time on what you can and can not do. However couple with the right agreement and the right company franchising should be an option to one should consider.

Facebook, the social network among college students is reported to be very much for sale. The reported asking price from a Business Week article is set at 2 Billion dollars. That sounds like a whole lot of money compared to what Fox paid for MySpace last summer (500 million USD), but in all do respect Facebook has 85%+ of college students in United States and is growing International rapidly.

It’s really hard to compare the two. Facebook is an exclusive social network, for members only so it won’t ever achieve the massive page views or the high search engine rankings that MySpace would; But, Facebook is a golden source of media for marketers to hit the college students’ demographics and that is indeed very valuable.

Being a recent graduate from a University, I understand the hype. I myself personally don’t use Facebook often, usually when I am requested to add a buddy or received a sent a message. However, among University students it’s their life. They use it as a source of communication between friends and groups, a way to keep up on social events, and a medium to voice their opinions. As the community continues to grow, in the long run, it just may prove to be more valuable the MySpace. So I won’t be the one to question it’s value at 2 Billion just yet.

With businesses going global, it’s really interesting to see where the United States plans to position itself in the midst of economic boom amongst second and third world countries.

I, for one am already convince that Asian and European investments will be yielding high dividends for years to come, while the US is predicted to struggle in keeping its competitive leadership in the world’s economies.

Last week, when reading my daily dose of the news I came across a very interesting article by Richard J. Newman of USA News entitled “Can America keep Up?” It’s a compelling argument that Americans may be facing the Hard Fact that in the future we may no longer be the Ultimate Super Power we once were, considering all these rapid advances that developing countries have been undergoing in recent years. What’s your take on the notion of America Falling behind? Email me with your thoughts.

What’s the fuss over Podcasting?

It’s a growing form of media that is replacing the radio. Users get to listen to what they want, when they want, and at little or no cost. It’s a quick and easy way to stay up-to-date on the things that really interest you. For me personally it’s extremely convenient to have tech news, weather reports, sports scores, market info, and headlining news synced onto my iPod at beginning of the day for use, whether it’s at home, on a drive out or a train commute. I have control of what I’m listening to that’s awesome

But in retrospect Podcasting is bringing out a whole new form of potential for businesses and marketers as a form of media that can create some huge returns.

“Promoting your business just got easier. Create a podcast with GarageBand, post it to iTunes in minutes, and reach customers, clients, and partners in a whole new way. Chefs are sharing recipes. Maternity store owners are giving the lowdown on diaper bags. And other professionals are airing business discussions, marketing new products and services, and keeping people informed.” - Apple

All you need is an idea that you want to get across. Weather its business or personal podcasting is a quick and easy away to be heard. Best of all it’s easy to target your listeners using keywords, tags, and categories.

You don’t need to be a tech Geek to podcasting, its quite simple, and it couldn’t be easier with the new Apple Garageband. So what are you waiting for there is a whole world of potential laying right in front of you… Discover it!
